Family Rhinolophidae
(horseshoe bats)

The horseshoe bat is a small bat that feeds on small insects. They’re usually found in tropical areas such as Asia and many pacific islands. Their mating session is in the fall and they give birth to only one offspring. They live in both high and low elevations, in enclosed or open spaces. There are 77 species of horseshoe bat and some hibernate during the winter. Most live in large colonies in caves, in hollows, on tree branches, or by themselves under leaves.
