What do you get when you mix a spice, a dog, and a flying object?  You get the animal I’m doing my report on, the Cinnamon Dog-faced Bat.

The Cinnamon Dog-faced Bat has many characteristics.  It can weigh anywhere from 24.4 grams to 37.8 grams.  Also, the males are larger than the females.  The Cynomops abrasus has a wing span of about 40 centimeters.  They have big, rounded ears without a bendable fold and are somewhat separated at the forehead.  Also, they have black wings, ears, face, and under parts and a brown body.

Another interesting fact about the Cinnamon Dog-faced Bat is its habitat range.  First of all, it is found on the continent of South America.  They can also be found in the countries of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Paraguay, Suriname, and Venezuela.  They can be found in tropical, humid forests.  There they live in hollow trees, but can also be found in caves.

On the threatened scale, the Cynomops abrasus is data deficient; there is inadequate information to assess the risk of extinction for the species.  Also, its major threats are deforestation, biological resource use, and logging and wood harvesting.  Seeing that the major threats to Cynomops abrasus are all due to humans, I believe that humans are their biggest predator.

I was unable to find anything on the diet and feeding habits of the Cinnamon Dog-faced Bat.

Just like its name, the Cinnamon Dog-faced Bat is an extremely interesting animal.  One interesting fact I found about the Cinnamon Dog-faced Bat is that it is similar to the bat Cynomops planrostris.  Clearly, Cynomops abrasus is a very extraordinary animal.
