The Orange-footed scrubfowl is a very interesting bird.  Even though it is not a very popular bird, it has many different capabilities.

This bird is about the size of an ordinary domestic chicken.  Its length can range from 35 to 47 cm. Both male and females can weigh up to 1200 g. It is dark colored with orange legs. Their normal coloring is usually brown and sometimes blue around the chest and neck area.  Their head is triangular because they have a pointed crest at the back of their head.

This bird lives as a terrestrial on small islands near S. New Guinea, and N australia.  They enjoy resting in large mounds of sand, or leaf litter.  Their population is neither growing nor shrinking s its conversation status is least concern.

The orange-footed scrubfowl feeds on seeds, fallen fruit, and terrestrial invertebrates. Sometimes it uses its strong feet to dig and get things such as worms.
