Green Darner’s are found in Canada, southern British Columbia, Mexico, and the entire United States. Their diet consists of aquatic insects, such as mosquito larvae, mayfly, and freshwater shrimp. They are beneficial to man, because of the high volume of mosquito larvae they consume. Of all the insects present today, the green darner is considered primitive due to its inability to fold its wings and less than advance wing structure. They are skilled fliers and extremely aggressive when feeding. It is believed that they can nearly see a full 180º at all times!
