The common snapdragon is named after its surroundings, sand.  The common sand dragon has precise coloration and shape.  It can be located in many places around the world like in the eastern United States, Southern Ontario and it is seen often in Oklahoma.

The common sand dragon is a thick sturdy looking dragonfly.  It varies in size from 43 mm to 71 mm [1.69 to 2.80].  This specific type of dragonfly’s colors is brown, yellow, black and white.  One of the characteristics of the sand dragon is its straight tail with its precise coloration.

This particular insect is found in various locations in the world.  It can be found almost anywhere in the world.  It is able to survive in almost any type of climate.  The population of this species is not in danger of extinction.

The sand dragon will eat a lot when it comes to food.  It is a consumer.  It eats fish or plants which classifies it as an omnivore.  It will often feed on tiny fish.  They eat during the day when they are able to see their prey in the water of the lake or a river.  This animal amazingly has no predators based on how small it is.  However, while hunting they can camouflage into the sand where they cannot be seen.

The sanddragon amazes people by its color. It helps to keep nature in balance by Its diet on fish.  The first thing that a person would probably notice about the sanddragon would be its tail which resembles a colored pencil.  Normally it is two different colors, mainly black and yellow.  When I first saw a sanddragon I thought it was a regular everyday dragonfly but after studying about it I realize that it has a lot of interesting characteristics.  I am glad that it is not an endangered species!
