I know what your probaly thinking, eww a dung beetle. But there not as gross as you think. They help us in many ways. There are three major groups of dung beetle: rollers, tunnelers, and dwellers.
The rollers bury the dung the ball of dung to either munch on later or to lay eggs in. All dung beetles eat diffrent dung according to where they live. The tunnelers fly until they find some feces to dive into.
Tunnelers fly until they find some feces to dive into, then they dig a tunnel and just drag all the feces they want down in it. The female again stays in the tunnel for the most part while the male does the dragging.
The dwellers actually live in the dung. Typical dung beetle appearance is a grooved shield, large, strong front limbs for digging and fighting and elongated back legs for holding on to dung balls whilst rolling them along.
Long flying wings are folded under hard wing covers. Some of the well known families in the dung beetle superfamily are the stag, bess and scarab beetles.
Dung beetles can be found on every continent except Antarctica. Which means they have the biggest order of all the insects.
As I was saying In the beginning of this essay, dung beetles are pretty useful. They are great recycelers for the environment. They eat the dung, making the world smell better.
