My animal report is on the Spotted Jellyfish. A Spotted Jellyfish is clear and has
White spots on it. It has several mouth openings and it has some oral arms. It feeds on
Zoo Plankton and has a life span of 4 months. It lives in the Indo-Pacific. This Species is also known as “lagoon belly.”
The spotted jelly fish grows a crop of symbiotic algae in it’s Bell which give it a greenish- brown color and produce food for the Jelly to harvest. After studying the lakes, scientists think the Jellies disappeared due to changes in the lake Water caused by the effects of the El Nino 1997-98 as the salinity was creating an unhealthy Environment for the Spotted Jelly-Fish. By 2000 the population was increasing.
Some fish liveIn the bell of the Jelly- Fish to have protection from predators until they reach maturity. During The day the Jelly-Fish travel upward to absorb maximum sunlight. White-spotted Jelly Fish have Very mild venom and do not pose a threat to human beings.
