Lucidota atra is commonly known as the black firefly. Black fireflies live in north eastern north America. The black firefly or Lucidota atra is about 9cm long. It has a black body with a black and orange head. The first thing someone would notice about a black firefly is that they have light organs that appear as small yellowish spots.
The black fireflies eats many things but it is also eaten by many things. Black fireflies eat many small bugs and organic material. Black fireflies are eaten by bats, birds, toads, and frogs. Clearly the black firefly is eaten by many things. The black firefly is important because it help keep other bugs from over populating. It stood out because it’s a firefly and it has light organs. the black firefly is clearly a very interesting animal.
