Deuterophlebia neilsoni you are probably thinking what does that mean? A mountain Midge is what it means. Adults have broad fan shape wings and males have extremely long antennae which they use when fighting for water and food. They are mainly water bugs. In this is essay I want to inform you about this animalia and even though it is rare and not heard of it is very interesting.

First of all Mountain midges range in size from 3 cm to 4cm.The color of my animal is black, brown, and grey. When my animal gets older its wings change into a broad fan shape also if it is a male its antennae grow extremely long. My animal is so rare they don’t have an exact description on it all they know is that it looks like a mesquite. In 1930 was the first site of a mountain midge and it hasn’t been seen again no more than 10 times.

More important than that is my animal is mainly a water animal every time a mountain midge has been discovered it has been found near or in the water. My animal was founded in Michigan. Also there are 6 species of this animal found so far but they are very rare and probably won’t find much more. It does not help the environment any really anyway. Remember if you are trying to find this species it is going to be very difficult.

 Equally important to that is, if you were 4cm long would you eat a lot. Well no and neither does the mountain midge. From what scientist know all that they saw in the species was algae and very small insects. There normal feeding is when they are hungry and can find something to munch on they don’t eat a lot so its normally very easy. My animal is not really the ocean animal you would probably find it near a swamp so anything really eats it. But its camaflogh color normally helps it get away from its predators also its color.

In conclusion, my animal is not so important to Mother Nature but it is very interesting to know that there are animals out there who are kind of the shy ones hiding in the back. The main thing that stood out for me was how many of this species have been found which is remembering only 6. Out of everything that I have written the main thing I hope you got out of this essay is that there is all kinds of species in the world and you should pay attention to all of them.
