Psophia crepitans also known as a Grey-winged Trumpeter is a member of a small bird family. It measures 19-22 inches and weighs 2.2 to 3.3 pounds. Grey-winged Trumpeter can be identified by their grey rump and wings. The Grey-winged Trumpeter are gregorious birds they can be found in groups of 6 to 8 and sometimes up to 100. They do not like to run but they run very fast. They got their names from the deep sounds they make. The Grey-winged Trumpeter is a very cool bird.
Psophia crepitans is a guinea fowl like bird. The Grey- winged Trumpeter has a long neck and long legs and a short beak. The neck of a Grey-winged Trumpeter is metallic purple, bronze, and green the rump and wings are grey and the rest of the bird is black. The Grey-winged trumpeter are related to cranes and rails.
Psophia crepitans are found in humid, dense, tropical forest. The Grey-winged Trumpeter can be found in tropical part of South America and the Amazon rain forest. They can be also be found in Guiana Shield. They can be found in groups of 6-8 and sometimes up to 100. The population of the Grey-winged Trumpeter is about 2,780,000. The Grey-winged Trumpeter is least concern.
Psophia crepitans diet is fruit and insects picked off the ground. The Grey-winged Trumpeter eats fruit off the ground. They Also eat millipedes, ants , termites, and katydids and grasshoppers. They usally eat fruits off the ground.
Psophia crepitans are very cool birds. One cool thing i learned about a Grey-winged Trumpeter is they make a very loud jeek and a tzaak. The Grey-winged Trumpeter do not like to fly because they are weak fliers but run instead.
