The Hercules Moth is one of the largest moths among the Australian Rainforest. This moth usually gets attention because of how big it is. The female Hercules Moth is normally larger than the male moth and also lives longer too. The wingspan of the Hercules Moth is 30cm wide. The male moths generally only live to mate then they will die. Its coloration is various shades of leaf brown. The tips of the males forewings look like a side view of a snakes head.
The Hercules Moth’s predator is the Black Butcher bird. This moth is found in North Queensland and Papua, New Guinea. It can also be found on the leaves of the Bleeding Heart tree.
It is one of the largest moths in the world and is the largest species of moth in Australia.
Something I found interesting about the Hercules moth is that it is one of the largest moths in the world. I learned that the female Hercules moth is larger than the male Hercules moth. The Hercules moth is one of the most interesting moths I have ever read about and I hope many more people do further research of the wonderful Hercules moth.
