Venomous viper species found in west and central Africa. Known for its striking color pattern and prominent horns on its nose.

Its appearance, the snake is large and ranging in length from 72cm/107cm with an average length of 60cm/90cm. Females become much larger .The head is narrow and triangular. The head is also very small. They have 2/3. They have a horn like scales on the end on their nose. The eyes are small and set forward. The fangs are small and rarely reach 1.5cm in length. The color pattern consists of 15/18 o belong markings. Each with a lemon /yellow line down the center these are enclosed with in irregular rhombic blotches.
